Physical Attractiveness

The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.

It only took me a few decades to realise this!

My anxiety and brain used to tell me that I was not physically attractive.

I couldn’t look down in the shower, I NEVER was naked in any form of lighting and I once took down the shower curtain and dressed myself in it to walk 5 steps to my bedroom because I’d forgotten my towel.

I was the only one home at the time.

I compensated for a lack of physical attractiveness in a lather of loudness.

My witty repartee and being fully available and involved in the lives of others meant I was too busy to give too much thought to me.

I loved to joke about my physical ‘lacking-ness’. Apparently I’m 45% French and 35% Irish; an unusual union of the potato and the croissant. My arms are long and my legs are short. My natural gait is similar to that of an ape. My tummy is rounded and my butt is flat, I’ve got a broad back and a very large rib cage (I still can’t figure that one out!).

There’s nothing wrong with joking about yourself as long you have a healthy self esteem.

Well I have learned and I am learning and each week will share a little bit of the journey, thoughts and ramblings with the core main point that we must develop a healthy relationship with ourselves.

These days I’m doing rather well with my physical perception of myself. There’s now no shower curtain involved in the run to my bedroom, which is now a leisurely saunter and I’ve got a much better relationship with the skin I’m in.

Here’s a couple of pictures of a little bit of naked shoulder and a dash of genuine ‘sass’ to show my new positivity. A great photographer, makeup and lighting were involved to highlight the best  but so what? Oh and no photo shopping for me!

Love the damn skin you’re in and buy that damn dress!

Until next week

    1. Thanks Debbie. Attractiveness IS so much about how you feel about yourself on the inside…The photo was taken by a professional photographer. Believe me if I rated myself on my photos I’d be hiding under my bed…lol..I really appreciate you taking the time to read my article. Happy days! Monica
